During the school year, TUITION is divided into 10 equal payments from September through June. These fees cover private lessons, plus piano parties, conferences and extra lessons/rehearsals as necessary before special events. Sheet Music, Recital Fees and Entry Fees will be billed at the end of each semester.
MAKE-UP LESSONS should be pre-arranged for family vacations or other known conflicts such as theater rehearsals, athletic tournaments, math competitions or finals week stress. Lessons that have been forgotten or cancelled with less than 24-hours notice will not be made up. Lessons missed due to family emergencies or sudden, serious illness will be rescheduled to the best of my ability.
I write practice assignments in the music and in student notebooks. Parents, feel free to read the comments and provide helpful support. Practice Requirements: work through your entire assignment five or more times every week. Each piece or exercise should be repeated at least 3 times each session, although difficult areas and specially-designed assignments will need extra time. Daily improvement is your goal.
PERFORMANCE is an important and rewarding experience for every musician. Student-only Piano Parties are held each month, and there are three Studio Recitals each year. Musical Gift Recitals sponsored by LWMTA provide an opportunity for community service as well as performance practice.
Students can also choose to play for a variety of Music Events and Evaluations, such as festivals, competitions, and adjudications. Ribbons, trophies, cash prizes and certificates of merit may be earned at these events. The activities are sponsored by groups such as the Music Teachers National Association, National Federation of Music Clubs and Seattle International Piano Festival. Exams are an optional study goal, using the programs of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music or the National Guild of Piano Teachers.
YEARLY PIANO TUNING improves practice sessions for the whole family! For best results, make sure that your tuner is a Registered Piano Technician.
